Useful Data

Retarders

CHEMIUM NTR 1 is used for setting time prolongation, plasticity improvement and pumping-flow improvement of the concrete. This effect is achieved by controlling the hydration of cement. Hardening and strength developing does not take place for the desired time interval, equivalent to the CHEMIUM NTR 1 amount.

The retarding depends on

  • the CHEMIUM NTR 1 quantity per m³ of concrete,
  • the concrete and environment temperatures,
  • the type (properties) of the cement used

CHEMIUM NTR 1 is further used at the following cases:

  • on transported concrete for less or no concrete cracking during the setting in summer,
  • in order to keep the concrete workable for a long time after its production and until its use,
  • in order to avoid joints due to work interruption (the concrete can remain workable until the continuation of works),
  • for better concrete workability in case of high, ambient temperatures and prolonged waiting times,
  • in order to reduce the rate of release of hydration heat.

Advantages

  • It does not affect the reinforcement or other building materials.
  • Ιt increases concrete’s compressive and flexural strength.
  • It does not affect negatively the development of the concrete’s strengths (at the recommended dosages).
  • User’s flexibility to use the concrete when needed.

CHEMIUM NTR 1 is added together with the mixing water to the concrete.

Dosage

For normal conditions from 0.2 to 2.0% on cement weight that is contained in the concrete. For high temperatures and higher retarding effect the dosage can be increased up to 2.5% on cement weight or more. In the latter case tests are recommended before use.

Dosage is determined with on-site tests according to need.

CHEMIUM NTR 1 is compatible with the range of admixtures offered by our company.

Packaging

IBCs of 1100 kg, drums of 220 kg, containers of 20 kg.

Shelf life

At least 6 months in the original sealed containers at a cool spot. If frozen, it can be defrosted at low temperature (30°C) under continuous stirring and used without problem.
